After I had taught for a year and a half at Central High School, I was drafted for the Korean War, although it was the Korean conflict. I was fortunate that I was sent to Germany instead of Korea. That was a great experience, because we could travel Europe pretty much. I was in the medical corps, supposedly a field medic, but I didn't have to practice that at all. I was in the department of information and education, which is refresher courses for troops and that sort of thing.
